The Austin Peay Governors come into the 2018 season looking to build on a solid 2017 FCS campaign that saw the Governors snap one of the longest losing streaks in FCS history at 29 straight defeats. The Governors lost three games to FBS opposition like Cincinnati, Miami-Ohio and a 73-33 blowout against UCF. But the Governors went 8-1 against FCS competition to finish with an 8-4 overall record, good enough for the 2nd spot in the OVC conference standings. Jeremiah Oatsvall returns for his sophomore season under center after throwing for 1,148 yards and 7 touchdowns on 56.7% passing last season. Kentel Williams and Ahmaad Tanner produce the 1-2 punch out of the Peay backfield, with Tanner leading the team with 697 yards and 8 touchdowns last season while Williams led the way with 61.3 yards per game. DJ Montgomery will be expected to get more opportunities in the Governors’ receiving corps, with Kyran Moore and Gorel Soumare gone, but luckily the Governors have some help returning on defence with the likes of Gunnar Scholato (98 tackles) and Jaison Williams (5.0 sacks) back for this season.

The Georgia Bulldogs will enter the 2018 season optimistic after coming so close to their first national championship since 1980, finishing with a 13-2 overall record including a win over Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl before falling in the national title game in overtime to Alabama by a final score of 26-23. The scary thing for Georgia is that they lost their best linebacker, two pro-level running backs and more than half their defense and offensive line, and the team looks to be even more talented than last year. It all starts with Jake Fromm at QB, who will be looking to build on a Georgia offense that finished the season averaging 435 yards and 35 points per game while leading the conference in terms of the ground attack and just outside of the top 10 in offensive efficiency.
